Let’s Stop Pollution!

Antes de empezar este proyecto, sabía que que el deterioro de la calidad del aire es una seria amenaza tanto para la salud humana como para la vida ecologica del planeta. Sabía que, desgraciadamente, las grandes ciudades del mundo a menudo tienen una muy pobre calidad del aire, especialmente aquellas ubicadas en naciones que están desarrollándose rápidamente como por ejemplo, nuestra ciudad, Quito, donde las grandes emisiones de contaminantes y sus precursores aparecen concentradas y persistentes, debido una población elevada. Gracias a este proyecto aprendí que la niebla tóxica que flota por encima de las ciudades es la forma de contaminación del aire más común y evidente. Aprendí que existen diferentes tipos de contaminación, visibles e invisibles, que contribuyen al calentamiento global. Currently, society ignores the risk alerts that pollution could bring to future generations. Pollution has an extensive history among us. The production of wastes has been a distinctive feature of humanity. The number of inhabitants was the main cause of the problem to increase. Water is fundamental in the production of food, in the growth and life of plants, in the good living of man, in animal husbandry, in industry, in construction, in the movement and maintenance of machines, in the fire fighting, frost control and general cleaning. But, as we already know water has been contaminated through all these years, causing countries like Libya, Western Sahara, Djibouti, among others, to be threatened by severe water shortages. It is estimated that 6.4 million tons of waste end up in the sea each year.
