As all the Hawaiian volcanoes, Mauna Loa was created when the Pacific tectonic plate moved over the Hawaii hotspot in the Earth’s underlying. 

Nowadays, Manua Loa is one of the wolrd's most active volcanoes. The earthquake activity caused by the volcano, increased in the first half of October, with scattered shallow events located in the summit region and the northwest flank of the volcano. Only two earthquakes were above magnitude three. Earthqueake activity declined significantly in the second half of October.

      1.       About 98 percent of the volcano’s surface is covered with lava flows less than 10,000 years old.

      2.       Manua Loa covers more than the 50% of the Hawaii Island

      3.       Manua Loa erupted 33 times between 1943 and 1984.

      4.       Manua Loa have 600.000-1.000.000 years old.

      5.       Manua Loa Killed people and destroy properties.
